Do you know what today is? It’s a good day. A day to celebrate just because it is a gift from God. Sure, the weed eater gave me fits yesterday. Yes, I worried the chicken salad sandwiches would turn out alright for potluck today. But you know what? It’s a great day.
The sunshine has been beautiful today, and I was blessed to visit with my Christian family at potluck. I’ve enjoyed some family time this weekend. I did get the weed eating finished yesterday, and according to my husband the chicken salad was good.
Psalms 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Maybe you’ve had a hard day or week. Focus on the fact that today is a day from God. If the day hasn’t been “good” for you so far, change that. If there’s something in your life that’s bothering you, make a plan for something you can do about it. Maybe it’s something that you can’t change, like illness of a family member. So what can you do about it? How about brighten their day and pray for them?
We spend so much time looking forward to things. Holidays, vacations, and special events are certainly fun to plan for, but along the way let’s make sure we aren’t missing out on the wondrous ordinary of life. Enjoy the little things, like holding a loved one’s hand or bringing a smile to someone’s face. Try making a list of the things you’ve been blessed with today. Add some things you’ve been worrying about that haven’t happened. Think of something you’d like to look back on tomorrow and do it today.
May the Lord bless and keep you,
Heather
